The 2015-2016 Common Application will launch on August 1. If you are a counselor or teacher who plans to submit online forms through the Common App Recommender system, here are four key pieces of information to help you as you start the year.
- Recommender Accounts from 2014 – 2015 will remain the same. This year, you will not need to create a new login or password to access your recommender account. Simply ask your students to use the same email address as last year and you can use the same account. (Naviance eDocs users, your process is unchanged)
- The School Report and Counselor Recommendation will be submitted separately. New for 2015 – 2016, you will no longer submit your recommendation with the School Report. Instead, you will use the new “Counselor Recommendation” form, which you can submit independent of the School Report. We’ll share resources to help you understand this new form shortly after launch.)
- Don’t use college names in your recommendation letters. The Common App system is designed to be one-and-done for Recommenders. That means you don’t need to resubmit your recommendation every time a student applies to a new college. It also means that every single college will receive the same recommendation. (Naviance eDocs users, your process is unchanged)
- Add firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com to your address book or contact list. We know you’ll have questions, and we are here to answer them. Help us make sure our responses don’t end up in your SPAM or Junk folder by adding our support email address to your contact list.
